Our u chicago Debut…

February 5th, 2026 marked playOUT!’s debut at the University of Chicago, welcoming a warm and engaged audience for an evening celebrating visionary LGBTQ+ voices in classical music. The program spotlighted composers whose work is reshaping the field with bold storytelling, sonic innovation, and unapologetic authenticity.

We were honored to perform the music of Damien Geter in his presence, alongside works by groundbreaking contemporary voices, in a concert that felt both intimate and electric. Adding to the magic of the evening was the attendance of Grammy Award–winning composer Jessie Montgomery, whose presence underscored the importance of creating spaces where queer artistry can be heard, celebrated, and championed.

The evening affirmed playOUT!’s mission to amplify queer artistry in classical music and marked an exciting milestone as we continue expanding our reach across Chicago’s vibrant cultural landscape.

One of a kind…
